Message: So, I just noticed a burst blod vessel in my left eye. First time ever so I'm kind of freaking here. Looks like it started in the far back left corner rather than in the middle if any of the white section. No redness in the pupil so fell good about that. Should I swim in the chlorine infested rec center pool or wait? How long do I wait?

I don't think it is pink eye. No pain, discomfort or blurring vision. Just been under mucho stress for two months and we are finally over that hump at work. Can't wait to get back on a regular workout schedule.

Message: I know I would swim.

Outside of swimming: that is definitely the type of problem that should be check out by a doctor.

Message: generally this is called a subconjunctival hemorrhage. It may have been caused by your swim goggles if they are to tight . Or rubbing your eyes, or, or, or... Think of it as a buise on your eye. It will resolve in 5-10 days and my turn yellowish as is heals. Swimming shouldn't be a problem. But you may want to get it checked out just in case

Message: Thanks guys.

I was in the pool Sat for two hrs and didn't know if it was caused not by the chlorine but rather someing in the water that necessitates the chlorine. Doesn't look worse this morning.

Message: I burst a blood vessel in an open water swim, so it's not a chemical issue. Mine happened after adjusting leaking goggles and pulling and pushing them to find the right fit. I went to the doctors and he said i could continue training, and not to worry about it, even though i begged him for a note to my training buddies to get me out of a century ride the next day. :-)

Message: lol Tom, right now the temp are flirting with 100 and I wouldn't wantto ride that mileage when it matches the temp.

The eye doc gave me a green light yesterday so we hit the pool for an hour and a half. Probably the most constant swimming I have done for an extended period of time all year so I feel good about that progress.

Thanks all and enjoy the mid season training.
