Written on: Wednesday April 25, 2012 Message: I am doing my first full Ironman on May 19th
(Ironman Texas). I believe that I have trained
pretty well. I read on ironman.com that one can
loose 2400 mg of sodium per hour during a hot
race. I am sure that it will get hot in Texas and
I am looking for suggestions on how to replace
that much salt without having to eat 60 capsules.
If anybody out there is doing Ironman Texas, let
me know. |

that you don't upset your stomach. I've used a
mixture of Gu Brew and CarboPro very nicely in hot
weather races without having to add salt tablets.
I have used salt tablets as well but only a few.
Make sure your body can tolerate whatever you're
throwing at it before you make any big changes. |

Written on: Thursday April 26, 2012 Message: i would base you questions answers on what you
have done in training and how your body reacted to
it. try it in training, dress warmer if you need
to simulate a warmer climate....dont try anything
new on race day. you can also add extra salt via
you nutrition plan. good luck, just my
thoughts!!! |

Written on: Thursday April 26, 2012 Message: I see you did Augusta in 2010 and 2011. It
shouldn't be hotter than Augusta 2011. What
nutrition did you use for that? What do you use
during your long training rides? Being from GA I
would assume you have had some long training rides
in the heat. At this point I am not sure I would
do anything different that you haven't already
tried. Or at least keep it to a minimum. Meaning
like 1 salt tab per every few hours or something
to that effect. |

anything) that you read on ironman.com |

Written on: Sunday April 29, 2012 Message: Lava Salts saved my bacon at IM Canada. I took one
every hour but practiced with them before the
race. I had other athletes begging me for them on
the marathon course. I am doing Kentucky this
year and will use them again no question. I am
sure it doesn't matter what brand you choose. |

years :) Agree 2400 seems like a crazy number! I
am a heavy sweater and lose a good amount of
sodium and I only go thru around half that |
