Written on: Saturday March 17, 2012 Message: After messing around all winter with what I
thought was a back muscle injury, I finally got
into a good sports doc and was diagnosed with
degenerative disks in the lumbar region and
osteoartritis of the back. I wasn't too surprised
by the degenerative disks; have them higher up on
c5/c6. I'm starting over on PT for this but I'm
wondering if anyone else has some insight or
experience they might share as to treatment or
recovery times, etc. I want to be hopeful that I
can successfully return to running. |

totally empathize. Do you also have stenosis? I
don't know much about osteoarthritis per se, but
if you do have stenosis as well, there is an
interesting procedure you might want to look into.
It's called the x-stop.

but I'll look it up just to have some more
education. I can't help but think several
Ontriers have spine issues. Or should I say, more
experienced Ontriers, not those youngsters...

Written on: Wednesday March 21, 2012 Message: Yep, just had a microdiscectomy yesterday. Feel
better this morning than I have in weeks. I may
never really race seriously again, but I will
finally be able to get back to the activities that
I love to do. Hang in there Teri. I saw
orthopedists, accupuncturists and PT's. PT's did
the best to make me comfortable, but seeing a
neurosurgeon with an outstanding reputation was
the best thing I did. You will get through this
and be back. Just keep searching for answers.
