Written on: Thursday March 08, 2012 Message: Hi guys!
I started training beginning of
January for first ever sprint triathlon in June
(and Olympic in September if all goes well). For
now, shape has gradually well improved, until this
week. I got appenditis and had to be operated on
yesterday. Obviously, muscles are already aching
to get back to training, so I was wondering
:
Have you guys ever had appenditis? How
long did you wait to get back to training? Doctor
didn't say much on the subject and general opinion
on internet seems to vary between 2 and 6 weeks. | Subject: RE: Back to training after appenditis? By: Willard H.

clearance from him. I had a hernia repaired this
winter and really didnt do anything for 3 weeks.
At that point I received clearance from my doctor,
and gradually worked back into training. My
opinion is that it is better to make sure
something like a surgery has plenty of time to
heal, and if you try anything too soon, you might
end up having to take a lot more time off. | Subject: RE: Back to training after appenditis? By: Patricia M.

Written on: Friday March 09, 2012 Message: My son just had his appendix out and the doc was
very specific about no lifting over 10 pounds for
six weeks. He also told him no long soaks until
the staples were out, so that was one week. No
limitations on other activities other than if it
hurts, don't do it. The lifting limitation would
make sense to me because of the risk of hernia
since he had an open incision. | | Please log-in or join free to reply | |
