Written on: Monday September 12, 2011 Message: This past weekend the NorthEast trio of Ontriers
met for a second time in 2011. Amanda D., Dot M.
and John M. teamed up in southern Maine to tackle
the Pumpkinman Half. When the three of us got
together in May for NJ Devilman we each walked
away with AG wins.
The results were not quite
as good but not too shabby.
Pumpkinman is
a great race weekend consisting of a sprint on
Saturday and a half on Sunday. Race Director Kat
Donatello sees to all details to perfection but
she could not hold off the thick fog. The swim is
a two loop affair but the start was delayed for
about 40 minutes until the turn bouys became
visible. Good call!
Seven waves consisting of
100 or less made for an enjoyable
swim.
The bike leaves north out of
transition for about 5 miles then does two big
loops before returning. There are no steep climbs
but this would never be considered a flat course.
Amanda, Dot and I must all be on the same bike
training plan. Amanda's split was 2:50:00.
My
split was 2:50:04 and Dot's split was
2:50:31.
The run is a constantly rolling
out and back with a shorter out and back in the
middle of the run. I like the format as most
runners get to see the elites on their way to the
finish and see their competion two or three
times.
Amanda blistered the run course in
1:35:33 recording the fastest womens run split of
the day. Like I said, that girl can
run.
Dot turned in the fastest Ontri time
of the day finishing @ 5:10:17 and winning the
W50-54 Age Group.
Amanda placed 2nd in the
W30-34 AG in a time of 5:12:33.
I captured 2nd
in the M60-64 AG completing the 70.3 miles in
5:32:29.
The weather was fantastic and
placing against good competition made for a great
day.

great racing with you guys this year - geesh, we
didn't even coordinate at the beginning of the
season and 3 out of my 4 tris were raced with you,
from NJ to ID to ME! We'll have to talk about
next season. I will definitely see you at
Pumpkinman next year for another trifecta! |
