Written on: Thursday November 05, 2009 Message: Ok I will start off by saying that I have a dr.
appt in 11 days to have him look at my knee. He is
the dr. that did my acl a few years ago so I trust
he will set me straight. But I want some mental
peace before then...
I am having some new
to me clicking and consistent popping of my knee
cap when going up stairs. There is some swelling
and some ache going on on the mcl side topish part
of the knee. This started earlier this week and I
have been icing thinking that some swelling caused
the issues. Not improving.
I don't know
how I did it. I twisted it a little playing hockey
monday night but don't remember issues on Tuesday.
Then Tuesday did my normal 7 mile run. After the
run I noticed it. I swam/biked the Wednesday and
did not feel like I had full strength in it. It
does not feel unstable but does not feel
right.
My first thought is that there was
a little problem but then the run shook it loose
and now maybe a floating something is in
there?
Anyone with similar
issues?
I am going to Dr. and will be off
it for the weekend but just thought I would gather
some information / other
experiences.
Thanks,

two cents...
(I'm not a doctor, either, so
unpack that grain of salt)
Popping and
cracking is common, but when you add pain and
swelling, I start worrying about the meniscus or
ACL damage. There's a distant, outside chance also
of a fracture, but more than likely you're
experiencing an accumulation of damage that has
finally tipped over into Something that Needs to
be Done.
One of many sites about knee
pain and symptoms is here: http://orthopedics.about.com/od/hi
pknee/a/kneesymptoms.htm
Good luck. I
hope the problem is minor and quickly resolved. | Subject: RE: Knee issues By: Elena S.

anti-inflammatories, and continue to ice, too
early to tell if there is a "damage"
just by listing of the symptoms, keep doing active
recovery days, try fish oils, they really make a
difference, it will likely get better on its own,
but continue fish oils regardless, the doctor will
probably do MRI that will show what's up, then go
from there....good luck1 | Subject: RE: Knee issues By: Dave S.

Written on: Sunday November 08, 2009 Message: thanks for all the info. I just returned from a
wedding out of town. I didn't do any workouts for
3 days. This morning the upstairs clicking
stopped. Still a little sore. I am going to do
light workouts this week and see how it goes. If
it feels fine the I will cancel the
doctor.
Sometimes I get too impatient
with injuries. A week seems to do wonders.
Hopefully it continues to heal.
Many
others have mentioned the fish oil, enough that I
need to start listening.
Thanks
again,

Written on: Monday November 14, 2011 Message: Check for pain on the outside of your knee just
below the joint you will find a little bump called
gerdy's tubricle if there is pain there and up
your it band you have patellofemoral dysfunction
and should see a doc or pt for exercises. If you
would like to email me I can give you more advice
and direction. | Subject: RE: Knee issues By: Amanda D.

Written on: Monday November 14, 2011 Message: You may want to try rolling your quad with a foam
roller too. I had a similar problem with my knee,
popping/clicking, and major pain - turned out to
be quadricepstendonitis and some other tendonitis
having to do with the knee cap. I roll the heck
out of my quad with a foam roller, and it helps
big time. My doc also gave me a NSAID to take for
a couple weeks that really helped, and now I just
have to keep up with stretching/foam rolling.
Might be worth a try. You could also consult dr.
google for the itis I mentioned above and see if
it describes your problem. Good luck, keep us
posted. Hope it's nothing too serious. | Subject: RE: Knee issues By: Ronald F.

Written on: Monday November 14, 2011 Message: Knees do the darnedest things. I don't understand
them. Just using myself as an example.
One
year my knee swelled up a little from a tiny poke
while working three days later I was at the
hospital with my knee and entire lower leg blowing
up like a ballon. Antibiotics took care of
it.
Last year my knee swelled up a bit and I
thought here we go again and went to a doctor. She
said no it is not an infection and just drained it
with needles, I thought she was nuts butshe was
right and the problem was gone. I don't get it. I
expected some deeper cause and issue.
For what
it is worth, sometimes things get irritated and
heal easily.
Good luck.
